I used to subscribe to the One-year international print subscription. Then I switched to the The Old Schoolhouse(TM) Magazine Digital Edition for one year. But I actually prefer to have a hard copy to flip through, especially when I have to nurse a certain someone to sleep But then comes the problem of what to do with the magazines after I am done with them! Hmmm….

And as you are checking them out, do not forget to check the Dollar Days sales at the store. I finally caved in and purchased The Schoolhouse Planner. It’s going at US$10 instead of the usual US$39!

2009 Homeschool Curriculum Fair

If you are contemplating homeschooling or are already homeschooling and want to find like-minded people to hang around with the Singapore Homeschool Group is holding their annual Homeschool Curriculum Fair again. Details are below :

1. Angie (3pm) – An introduction to the Charlotte Mason approach of homeschooling (www.amblesideonline.org)
2. Mimi (3:15pm) – PSLE and beyond
3. Jenny (3:30pm)- An introduction to Math-U-See
4. Connie (3: 45pm)- Use of manipulatives from Right Start Math to supplement the local math curriculum
5. Possibly – Sarah (4pm) on Art and more

*These are approximate times only and please note that although the Panel Discussion may be about the local experience (if we’re able to get the speakers), the event is opened to all.

At the event:

• see a sample of curricula used by homeschooling families in Singapore
• meet VERY ORDINARY homeschooling mums/dads
• homeschooling kids who aren’t HERMITS and
• families of different nationalities/beliefs.

Experiencing God in Pregnancy

Since 2003, after the birth of our 4th blessing, my husband, Henson, and I have been conducting a Christian ante-natal talk, Experiencing God in Pregnancy. We do not focus on the medical issues as per the usual ante-natal classes offered by the hospitals or the clinics. But rather, we focus on the Christian perspective of going through a pregnancy, labour, delivery and being parents with practical tips thrown in as well.

However, as the family has grown we would most likely not be giving these talks anytime in the near future. So if you are thinking of starting a family or are expecting now and want a different perspective on pregnancy and birthing, do come and join us on 8 November 2008 (Saturday).

We will cover the following topics during the talk :

• knowing your position in Christ,

Another musical extravaganza!

Well not really but it will be a great time of worship and praise come 17th October 2008!

My dear husband, or Brother Henson as most of you know him as, will be presenting a musical testimony of God’s faithfulness and goodness in a 2hr long session with his own originally composed songs.
